In March a primary health care centre is set to open in Rabat, Gozo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne said in Parliament on Tuesday.
The government over the past three years has opened 14 health clinics across Malta and Gozo, he added. The minister said that the aim is to open a health clinic in every town.
He noted that in treating patients in their own locality, not only is it more comfortable for the patient, but it speeds up the process of early diagnosis and is cheaper than treatment in a hospital.
Fearne noted how the Labour government has recently opened health care centres in Valletta and Kalkara, whilst a health care centre in Santa Lucia is set to open in Novemeber and the centres in Marsascala and in Ta Giorni are in progress.
