Getting to know Marica Cassar... and her particular choices for sharing a dinner

Actress Marica Cassar would love to live in the mountains, where she would have lots of space to take care of animals.

She has been to several music concerts abroad, but not of her favourite singer. Marica, who also serves as press officer of Caritas, makes a particular choice on with whom she would enjoy sharing a dinner.

And for someone who did not learn how to ride a bike when she was young, she did something extraordinary on two wheels later on in her life

What was the last book you read?

A complete book from front to back – The Kite Runner – as lately i’m not capable of finishing off a book...(unfortunately)

What was the last film you watched?

Can’t remember – I’m more into an intriguing series!

Which film have you seen multiple times and enjoyed every time you saw it?

La Vita e’ Bella – approx 8 times! Such a way to look at life!

Denzel Washington

What is your favourite TV series?

Breaking Bad

What is your favourite game or sport to watch and play?

Football to watch - tennis to play

Which show/event would you like to attend/have attended?   

A concert by Claudio Baglioni – attended several times.... Will never miss a good opportunity to travel to attend a good concert or a musical. In few weeks will be attending a concert by Angelo Branduardi

What three items would you take with you on a deserted island?

Toothbrush, Victorinox Swiss knives and matches

Which of the five senses would you say is your strongest?

Smelling – definitely not my eyes as I’ve been wearing contact lenses for the past 39 years!

What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?

As a vegetarian for almost 20 years, the most unusual thing still is Tofu

What did you like to do most during the summer holidays?

Participating in a tennis team tournament  - this summer had the satisfaction to play the finals with all the excitement and support it brings with it

What career did you see yourself in when you were young?

Had several, but was determined to become a policewoman! God knows what I was thinking and imagined at that time...

What is your best childhood memory?

Playing in the beautiful narrow roads of Vittoriosa with my cousins, roaming and running freely without the risk of being hit by a car

Did you learn how to ride a bike?

When I was young, I was not allowed to ride a bike. As an asthmatic my mother was very cautious and terrified that I might have an attack while doing such a physical activity. But in 2004, at the age of 35, i bought a mountain bike which in 2006 took me to cycle through Norway, Sweden and Finland with the Lifecycle Challenge team and achieved the award of cyclist of the year as I pushed my self to finish it even though I was severly injured

Who was your super hero?

My dad ... still is

Which toy do you wish to have kept?

Cant think of one – sorry...we didnt have much toys to play with although as a child, every Christmas, my mother used to buy us a toy and brought it over to us by a Father Christmas riding a sleigh and reindeer.

What subject did you excel in at school?

Social Studies

What subject did you dislike the most in school?

Mathematics (dislike with a passion)

Was there some family tradition that was never missed?

We still celebrate Christmas and Easter festive season with the traditional food every year

What are the best values you owe to your parents?

Honesty, integrity and loyalty

What would you change about yourself if you could?

Stop procrastinating

What really makes you angry?

Greed and dishonesty

Always always half full

What is your biggest regret?

Have not continued my piano playing, singing and music studies

What’s the first thing you look for in a partner and/or friend?

Honesty and loyalty

What is your greatest fear?

Needles – trypanophobia... definitely no piercing or tattoos for me

Carpe Diem -  I make the most of my present time

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Animals are my friends, and I dont eat my friends

What's one thing that can instantly make your day better?

My blood type – it always remind me to do so – B Positive

If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you do or buy?

A small house to live in surrounded with land to give shelter to abandoned animals including rescued farm animals

If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be?

A homeless, a migrant, a prison inmate and someone feeling neglected

If you could bring one person back from the dead who’d it be?

My grandmother, everyone says that I really resemble her... she died 3 weeks before I was born.

If you could time travel, when and where would you go?

I would go back to a time -  BUT with the awareness - not to destroy our earth, knowing the real definition of climate change, enjoying beautiful clean seas and surrounded by trees and vegetation, doing all the advocacy needed to save our planet

If you could relive one moment in your life, which would it be?

My wedding day with Joe – enjoyed every second of it!

If you could live anywhere outside Malta, where would it be?

Definitely somewhere in the mountains, in a small cottage and with surrounded land

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?


If you could know the truth behind a secret or mystery, which would it be?

The secret of living up to 100 and feeling like 60

If you could eliminate one of the seven deadly sins, which one would it be (pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath or sloth?


If you had to be given a superpower, what would you choose?

To be invisible! Would visit certain places without others knowing! Would fly to inspect places and know the truth behind each place and the power to speak about what I’ve seen. A good example is the correctional facility system
