Malta’s sexual health policy has gone back to the drawing board after it was found to be based on twelve year old research, Health Minister Chris Fearne said on Tuesday.
Fearne said that the public health department are now undertaking a new study to reflect the modern day realities of sexual practices, and that this data should be available in early 2022.
“I was given a draft of the policy but it was based on studies from 12 years ago. Public health has now been tasked to carry out a new study to understand the sexual practices of people today,” said Fearne.
This policy has been promised by the government for several years and was meant to be published in early 2021.
Malta’s current sexual health policy was published in 2010.
