Malta deserves a government with a long-term vision – PN leader

Malta deserves a government that has a long-term vision, one that builds on the good but also amends the wrongs that the Labour government did, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said.

Speaking at a press conference outside Parliament soon after a two-hour speech in which is replied to the Budget 2022 as presented by the Finance Minister last week, Grech said that he had uncovered the truth which was hidden by the government.

“Today I uncovered the truth on the true economic situation of the country,” he said.

Grech spoke about the proposals laid out by him, outlining his vision for the country on the environment, the job sector and transport among others.

What the government presented was a budget with no regard for the future, he said. “This was a budget for today, it does not think about tomorrow, and a Nationalist government will change that,” Grech said.

Shadow minister for finance Mario de Marco said the Nationalist Party continued to be proactive, even from the opposition benches.

The PN believes that wealth should be divided equally and in a just manner. “The country needs to continue changing for it to remain relevant,” he said.

Shadow minister for the economy Kristy Debono said the government has failed to address challenges brought about the country’s greylisting.

“We need a clear economic vision. The budget has not outlined how we can take the country forward,” she said.

A new PN government will look to give importance to sectors which have been ignored by the government, such as financial services, tourism and manufacturing.
