Two arrested in drug bust worth €190,000

Two people were arrested by police on Tuesday in a drug bust worth a total of 190,000.

Police said in a statement that its anti-drugs squad had made the arrests and found around four kilograms of cocaine and cannabis in the two operations.

Police said that a 55-year-old man who lives in San Gwann was arrested on Tuesday morning as he entered an apartment in Bugibba.  He was found carrying a box which contained a kilogram of cocaine which has a street value of some 130,000.

A 25-year-old woman who lives in the Bugibba apartment was also arrested and a search of the residence resulted in the finding of three kilograms of cannabis resin, which has a value of around 60,000.

A search at the man’s residence in San Gwann resulted in another 300 grams of cannabis being found.

The duo are expected to be charged in court on Wednesday with aggravated drug possession, drug trafficking, and money laundering before duty magistrate Josette Demicoli.
