71 new Covid-19 cases reported as active cases go over 900

No end appears to be in sight to the current Covid-19 spike in cases, with 71 new cases of the virus being reported by health authorities on Tuesday.

30 have recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases currently stands at 907.

It’s the first time since 8 August that the number of active cases has exceeded 900.

Meanwhile, 16 patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, with two of those in intensive care.

933,791 doses of the vaccine had been administered up until Monday, with 99,506 of those being booster shots.

Malta has had 38,755 cases of Covid-19 so far. 37,065 of those have recovered, while 464 have died.
