Thursday, 25 November 2021, 13:23 Last update: about 9 days ago

The members of the Civil Protection Department rescue people on a daily basis. But some of their officers ended up requiring assistance after they got bogged down in Thursday’s floodwater.

Footage of the incident was uploaded on the CPD’s Facebook page. There are currently no details and the place of the incident is unclear.

The footage shows an Armed Forces of Malta rescuer being winched down from a helicopter to assist the CPD crew.

The AFM said one of its AW139 aircraft was used to winch CPD personnel and a civilian who were caught in this morning's storm.

The Civil Protection Department was busy all morning assisting motorists who found themselves in difficulty in flooded areas. Most parts of Malta were hit by incessant rain, with several incidents of cars carried away by rainwater being reported.
