A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a traffic accident early this morning.

Police said that the Italian motorist, 28, lost control of his vehicle, a Honda CB600F, and fell at Triq Valletta, Mosta.

A passenger on the same motorcycle, a 30-year-old man – an Italian – was also taken to Mater Dei hospital.

They were given medical assistance before being taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The motorist was certified as having serious injuries. The police later said that the passenger was uninjured.

A magisterial inquiry is being led by duty magistrate Lara Lanfranco.

District police investigations are still ongoing.
