832 new Covid-19 cases reported as elderly man passes away

832 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Monday, as an elderly man became the third person in as many days to pass away while positive for the virus.

Authorities said that an 88-year-old man had passed away while Covid-19 positive.  He is the 476th person to pass away in Malta while positive for the virus.  He is the 300th man to die from the virus in Malta.

78 people meanwhile have recovered, which means that the number of active cases has increased up to 6,519.

83 patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, with five of those being in intensive care.

Up till Sunday, 1,033,533 doses of the vaccine had been administered, with 190,162 of those being booster doses.

Malta has had 46,990 cases of Covid-19 so far. 39,676 of those have recovered, while 476 have died.
