Opposition Leader Bernard Grech on Wednesday did not exclude the possibility that Franco Debono would contest the election as a PN candidate.

Asked by Newsbook during a press conference, Grech said he did not “exclude any candidature.”

“I speak with Franco Debono on a regular basis, as I have a duty to speak regularly with all those who feel that the time has come for change in this country. I believe that everyone can contribute, not necessarily by becoming an election candidate,” Grech continued, adding that Claudio Grech, who has announced he will not be contesting, will still remain active in the party.

Debono famously broke ranks with the PN when he voted with the Labour opposition against the government budget in 2012. Since then, Debono has hinted that he wishes to re-join the party.
