Pope Francis has boarded an Air Malta plane along with his delegation and will make his way back to the Vatican, marking the end of the Papal visit to Malta.

The Pontiff arrived in Malta on Saturday, and in his two-day visit, met Malta's top officials in Valletta, went to Ta' Pinu, visited St Paul's Grotto, celebrated mass at the Floriana granaries and met with migrants at the Peace lab in Hal Far.

When arriving at the airport on Sunday afternoon, the Pope had a brief sit down with the President of Malta George Vella and then walked to the plane, where he was greeted by the AFM's band that played the Innu Malti. Top officials including the Prime Minister were present, to wave goodbye to the Pontiff.
