An elderly man from Ħal Qormi has suffered grievous injuries while he was trying to control a grass fire.

The police was informed that there was the need for assistance in a field in Triq il-Ħofor, Ħal Qormi, at noon.

The 76-year-old man was given assistance from a medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department.

He was taken by an ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
