Two men arrested in unlicensed vehicle

Two men in Qormi were arrested at 6.30pm yesterday after they were found in a vehicle with suspected drugs.

The police were informed that on Triq il-Kanun, in Qormi, there was a vehicle being driven without a licence.

The police saw a car on Triq il-Belt Valletta what fit the description given. The police blocked the road with a police vehicle and the two people inside were ordered to get out. It was noted that the vehicle's license stuck to the windscreen belonged to a different vehicle.


The vehicle wasn't licenced to be on the road and was not covered by insurance. The police saw a gun inside the vehicle. Both men were arrested. The police also found a considerable amount of cash in the car, and around 60 sachets of substances suspected to be cocaine and heroin.

A knife was also found on the passenger. Both men were taken to the Police HQ.

A magisterial inquiry was launched and investigations are ongoing.
