A man has died in Zejtun after he fell around two storeys while carrying out some maintenance inside a residence.

The man has been named as Shawn Curmi, a father of two.  Curmi was a Psychiatric Nurse at Mount Carmel Hospital, and his social media was awash with tributes from those who knew him and those who had worked with him.

Police shared the tragic news on Tuesday in a statement, saying that they were informed of the accident at around 9:15am inside a residence in Triq id-Dejma in Zejtun.

Preliminary investigations showed that the man, who was 43 and who lived in the same residence where the accident took place, fell around two storeys while he was carrying out some maintenance works in his stairs.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were dispatched to offer assistance, however the man was certified as dead on site.

Duty magistrate Josette Demicoli is leading an inquiry while police investigations are also ongoing.
