Police solve spate of thefts from Birzebbuga bays

The police said that they had solved a spate of thefts which had been happening at bays in Birzebbuga over the past few weeks.

In a statement, the police said that two people – a 44-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman – had been arrested in connection with the theft of bags and other items from bays in Birzebbuga.

The information on the individuals was received by the locality’s community police while they were patrolling near Pretty Bay, and investigations with district police led to the arrests.

Several searches carried out by police, including at the residence belonging to the two arrested individuals, a number of items which had been reported as stolen from bays in the locality in the previous weeks were found.

These included a number of mobile phones, a number of wallets, pairs of glasses, portable speakers, and personal documents of other people.

The two individuals are being kept under arrest in the police’s lock-up in Floriana while investigations into the case continue.
