Two people have been hospitalised after they were involved in a traffic accident between three vehicles on Sunday.

Police said that the traffic accident occurred on Sunday at around 7:30pm in Vjal ir-Rihan in San Gwann.

Preliminary investigations showed that a crash occurred between a BMW i3s being driven by a 68-year-old man from Naxxar and a VW Polo being driven by a 29-year-old woman from Iklin.

Upon impact, one of the cars ended up in the opposite lane and hit a Peugeot Tweet motorcycle being ridden by a 51-year-old man from Swieqi.

The motorcyclist and the woman were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance and were later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

A 40-year-old man from San Gwann who was a passenger in the VW Polo and the driver of the BMW did not suffer any injuries.

Police investigations are on going.
