A man was grievously injured after he was involved in a traffic accident early on Tuesday morning.

Police said that they were informed at around 10am by Mater Dei Hospital that a man had been admitted to hospital after he was involved in an accident with a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigations showed that the man, who is 43 and lives in Naxxar, had hit the pavement while riding his Piaggio Vespa in Triq San Pawl tal-Qlejja in Mosta at 5:30am on Tuesday.

The man kept on riding towards Mgarr, but was later taken to hospital by family members.

Police investigations are ongoing.
