PN Leader denies allegations made by Robert Arrigo

Statements made by former PN Deputy Leader Robert Arrigo on social media are not true, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said in a statement.

In December, the Nationalist Party asked Naxxar mayor Anne Marie Muscat Fenech Adami to resign from her post over an undeclared conflict of interest. Muscat Fenech Adami, who represents the PN as the locality's mayor, caused raised eyebrows after she voted in favour of a mega-development on the former trade fair grounds, despite the fact that the council had said it would vote against the project when it came before the Planning Authority.

In a post on Facebook, Arrigo said that an internal report on the Naxxar mayor was concluded months ago, but Grech said that it had not yet been finished. Arrigo had said that (Grech) lied about his own party and to himself on national TV.

Grech, responding to Arrigo's social media post, said regarding the Muscat Fenech Adami case that the Administrative Council had decided that it was appropriate for the case not to be considered before the general election.

"This occurred on the suggestion of Robert Arrigo himself, who participated completely in this decision. This is why the facts show that I at no time stopped the publication of a report that was prepared by the Board of Ethics and Discipline and the case of the Naxar Mayor is on the agenda to be discussed before the Administrative Council."
