Former PN candidate Frank Psaila has been appointed by the Social Ministry as the chairman of the Medicines Review Board and the Periti Warrants Board, for a period of three years.

The appointment was formally announced in The Malta Government Gazette last week.

Psaila, a former PN information director, now sits on 3 separate boards, after being appointed to sit on a government board for affordable housing.

"I have been appointed in accordance to the provisions and qualifications indicated by the periti act and the medicines review board  - both require that both posts be filled by a lawyer and I was appointed according to the law regulating such boards," stated Psaila in response to The Malta Independent.

He further expressed that he had been told that the remuneration for the Periti Board "is circa €2,200 yearly.  The Medicines Review Board [...] is €3,548.32 yearly. The Affordable Housing Board is circa €2,220 yearly.

Weeks after the election defeat for PN, both Psaila and his wife Alessia Psaila Zammit, resigned from the Nationalist party in April.

"My time in the PN is now a closed chapter," he said.

"When an environment is contributing to hinder the person from contributing his/her full potential, one should speak-up internally, try to find a solution, but if a workable relationship is no longer possible, to ultimately move on," he further stated.

He added that he is now contributing towards his country in other ways.

In 2019 Psaila had contested the election and was widely seen as the favourite to take the PN's second MEP seat from David Casa, but he was unsuccessful.
