Schembri stressed that ‘in a few years, our country has confirmed itself to be a centre of excellence when it comes to the iGaming industry, being an integral part of the success of several renowned companies in this field.’

The Minister also remarked that our country has worked on a legal framework which provided the country with serious jurisdiction, pivoting Malta to be a shoulder for this industry. It was also announced that a Reputation Management Program will be set up, which will include an international campaign on the iGaming sector.

The Government is also working to create new economic niches in this sector, including video game development and esports. Regarding esports, Minister Schembri said that one of the biggest events in this field, the ESL Pro League, is currently being staged in our country. Furthermore, a leading company in the field of game development, Keywords Studio, will open a base in our country.
