The terms and results of the inquiry, assigned to retired judge Geoffrey Valencia, looking into the murder of Bernice Cassar will be made public, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri has said.

The minister, responding to a parliamentary question posed by PN spokesperson for justice Karol Aquilina, said that the results of the inquiry will be published, except for any information that might prejudice a case.

Aquilina, PN MPs Claudette Buttigieg and Mario de Marco mentioned the long timeline of Cassar's case, where she filed an initial report against her husband in May, but her case was set to be heard in November of next year.

They all commented on the inefficiency of the courts because only one magistrate is assigned to deal with such cases. Aquilina also mentioned how there are currently 1,429 pending cases.

The PN proposed that the government assigns at least one of the two additional magistrates who will be appointed to the judiciary in the coming days, to work on these cases.

Camilleri said that this was a question for Justice Minister Jonathan Attard, however, he could say that this is something that the Justice Ministry is considering to increase efficiency.
