The Civil Protection Department has published a set of photos which were taken during a 16-hour search and rescue operation which took place after a factory under construction collapsed in Kordin last Saturday.

Six men were trapped under the debris, with out of them, Jean Paul Sofia, being found dead at 1.30am on Sunday.

The collapse had taken place at 9.30am on Saturday.

Another five workers were trapped underneath the debris. Three of them ended up in intensive care.

In Parliament this afternoon, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri spoke highly of all the officers involved in the operation. 

The pictures published Monday show different parts of the rescue operation, which included the selective removal of debris so as to limit the danger.
