A specialised unit has been set up to manage Malta's National Park in Ta' Qali.
This new unit, within the Ministry for Public Works and Planning, has been set up in accordance with the Public Administration Act and will be led by Jason Micallef, the government said.
This specialised unit will be tasked with preserving and promoting the park as a recreational space open to the public.
The unit will also have to draw up a set of rules for the use of the park and even draw up and adopt a strategy for its management. It must also draw up a plan to coordinate maintenance, in order to keep the National Park in good condition, the government said.
The unit will also be tasked carrying out health and safety procedures in the case of any emergencies in the park.
Works for the National Park are still ongoing, however, the public can already access parts which have been completed, the government said.
