Two men were arrested while they were committing a robbery in Zabbar, the police said.

The police said they were informed that a robbery was probably taking place at a construction site in Triq Patri Felician Grech, Żabbar, at 2am, on Friday.

The men arrested were both residents of Birzebbuga aged 51 and 46.

When officers arrived on the scene, they heard noises and saw suspicious movements. The police entered the site and began conducting a search on each floor.

On the top floor, the police found a man hiding behind a door and he was arrested.

Due to suspicion that there were more people inside, the police continued searching and found another man hiding under some plastic in another part of the same building. He was also arrested.

Following investigations, the two men were found to have used a vehicle which was parked in Triq il-Berebis which had several tools, wires and extensions.

The police also searched the residences of the two arrested where they found several items, including a chaser, a large number of tools and wires.

Both men were taken to the police lock-up in Floriana for further investigations.
