A Bulgarian man was critically injured in a fight in Msida on Sunday evening, the police said.

He had been involved in an argument with a number of persons who escaped from the scene, a police statement added.

The incident took place at the Ta’ Xbiex promenade, Msida, at 10pm.

The Bulgarian man, aged 30 and resident in Pieta’, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The police said that he had been hit by a blunt instrument.

Magistrate Charmaine Galea is leading an inquiry.
