Only 30 minors caught drinking underage in Paceville and Valletta during 2022

30 minors were caught drinking underage in Paceville and Valletta during 2022, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said on Wednesday.

The details emerged in response to a written parliamentary question filed by PN MP Albert Buttigieg.

The minister quoted statistics given by the Police Force in his answer.

The legal age for drinking in Malta is 17.

The minister was also asked by Buttigieg on how many people were arrested during 2022 in connection with the sale of illegal substances.  

In his reply, Camilleri said that of seven people were arrested in connection with such an offence, out of which five have been charged in court, while investigations are ongoing into the remaining two.

Additionally, he said that that none of those arrested were repeat offenders.
