A biker was critically injured on Saturday afternoon following a crash in Xewkija, the police said.

The biker, an Italian man aged 57 and resident in Victoria, was riding a Kentoya Lion which was involved in a crash with a BMW 320D, driven by a 46-year-old man of Kercem.

A woman, an Italian 57-year-old resident in Victoria, was riding pillion.

Both Italians were taken to Gozo Hospital, with the man found to be critically injured while the woman was slightly hurt.

Magistrate Simone Grech is leading an inquiry.
