Doctors for Road Safety has launched the Safer roads campaign, addressing issues to improve the safety on Maltese roads.
Starting from Sunday (19 November), which also happens to be the World day for Remembrance for Road Victims, the campaign will run for the coming six months.
"We wish to remind that injuries and deaths on our roads are no accident, and that with a safe systems approach, this epidemic can be stemmed, and vision zero achieved," it said in a Facebook post.
The poster campaign addresses four main themes, which are driving with excessive speed, driving whilst distracted especially whilst using a mobile phone, driving under the influence of either alcohol or psychoactive drugs, and finally the impact of respect and courtesy as a positive influence.
This campaign was supported by a donation from Lady Stephanie and Sir Martin Laing, and by the Tara Malou Licari Fund.
