Opposition Leader Bernard Grech sought a breach of privilege ruling from Speaker Anglu Farrugia to investigate the state broadcaster's coverage of his speech in the debate discussing a Bill to set up a Climate Action Authority.

Grech on Tuesday quoted his speech in Parliament on Monday, which he said the Public Broadcasting Services misquoted, and twisted what he had said.

He continued that he had said that climate change represents an obstacle to more development and a successful economy, and that action on climate change should not be contradictory, but rather complimentary to the population's progress.

"PBS twisted what I said and turned it around, saying that the Opposition Leader said that climate change is an obstacle to economic growth," Grech said, adding that this was the opposite of what he said.

He tabled in Parliament the state broadcaster's reporting of the debate, as well as a screenshot of the television coverage.

Grech requested that the Speaker investigate this incident in accordance to procedure.
