The government said Friday that Cottonera is benefiting from a number of projects aimed to embellish public areas and make them more accessible.
Prime Minister Robert Abela was taken on a tour of the projects in Senglea, Cospicua, Vittoriosa and Kalkara.
The media was not invited for the tour.
In a statement, the government quoted Abela as saying that the projects are an example of the synergy that exists between local councils and entities that are responsible for the projects.
The work that is taking place includes the restoration of the gate leading to Senglea, the buiulding of bridges underneath Fort Saint Angelo, while in Kalkara the main square is being refurbished.
The regeneration is preserving the characteristics of Cottonera, the PM was quoted as saying. He noted that the day care centre in Cospicua has started to offer services to elderly people living in the community.
