Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing Malcolm Paul Agius Galea said that the service is intended to help the elderly more effective face situations they encounter during their lives.

He said that the program consists of 8 educational sessions which are led by a qualified psychotherapist and will focus on strengthening the mental well-being of the elderly. He continued that participants will learn how to recognise and manage emotions, as well as how to communicate and handle difficult situations more effectively.

The Parliamentary Secretary said that this service is provided in other locations and is planned to be extended throughout all centres of active seniority. He added that this service is also provided in clinics, as well as inside the private residence of elderly with mobility difficulties. He remarked that approximately 890 group and individual sessions were held during 2023.

?ebbuġ Mayor Mark Camilleri said that the program is providing a unique opportunity for seniors to learn and improve their mental well-being.

The program is open to all interested seniors interested in participating. More information can be found by visiting the official Active Ageing website or contacting an Active Ageing centre.
