The restoration project of the Fishermen’s Shed in St Julian’s has been inaugurated by the Minister for Tourism and Public Cleanliness Clayton Bartolo who was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Malta Tourism Authority Gavin Gulia along with the Deputy Chief Executive of the MTA Kevin Fsadni.

The Ministry for Tourism and Public Cleanliness said that restoration work was carried out in the area, in which many fishermen tow their boats, in order to improve the condition of the building and the adjacent boathouses so that new life is given to the area.

The Ministry said that the aim of this project was to further strengthen traditional tourist product in the area, as St Julian’s is popular with tourists. It added that the aim was also to safeguard the cultural heritage of this area of the locality.

Minister Bartolo said that the government is committed to continuing to take care of the country’s cultural heritage as well as investing in the local tourist product. “The more we invest in these types of projects, the more we raise the quality of our offer to the Maltese, the Gozitans, and the tourists who visit various tourist areas in our country,” he concluded.
