A 9,000sqm garden in Vittoriosa, called 'Ġnien fuq il-Glażiż' has been regenerated into a recreative space for families to enjoy, the government said.
For years, it said, the garden was abandoned.
Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the project on Wednesday and inaugurated it.
Abela said that this is another project te government implemented in keeping with the electoral pledges it made, to give residents open spaces within the community.
"We are committed to continue with our work to have localities with more open spaces that are able to be enjoyed by residents, families and children," he said.
A number of recreation areas were set up within the garden, including space for picnics, children's games, and even a dog park. A new lighting system was also installed using solar energy, and security cameras were installed. The project was carried out by GreenServ.
Environment Minister Miriam Dalli. "We are pleased to see students of different ages enjoying the garden, where through their teacher they are continuing in their educational experience away from the traditional classroom environment."
