Two men remanded in custody after admitting to setting cars on fire

Two men were remanded in custody after they admitted to setting cars on fire in Gozo, the police said.

The two men, from Syria, one aged 37 and resident in Pieta and the other aged 29 and living in Birkirkara, were charged in the Gozo courts of setting fire an Isuzu Elf and a Hino Dutro.

The incident happened on 13 June at 2.15 am in Latini Street, Ghajnsielem.

A third car which was parked in the vicinity, a Mitsubishi L200, was also damaged in the blaze.

The two men admitted to the offences before Magistrate Simone Grech and were remanded in custody.
