Through an expenditure of just under half a million euro, a previously abandoned building in Cospicua has been refurbished, maintaining its original characteristics and adding an extra storey to accommodate three more apartments, Minister for Affordable and Social Accommodation Roderick Galdes said.

“We can say that we turned an abandoned building into a project of good social accommodation at the heart of the community,” he said.

Galdes went on to explain that extensive works were needed to renovate the building and add an extra floor for three new apartments of social accommodation. “I am pleased to point out that whilst we did the necessary work to bring this building back to life, we also kept its characteristics. Therefore, the beneficiaries will enjoy the authentic characteristics offered by the locality of Cospicua.”

Galdes said that this project involved collaboration with the Housing Authority and Housing Maintenance and Establishment Ltd. which will offer a better quality of life to the beneficiaries. He added that the project was well received by the local residents since an abandoned building is being given back to the Cospicua community with a beautiful aesthetic and a more important social goal.
