A man was grievously injured on Saturday in a fireworks accident.

At 7pm, the police were informed that its assistance was required in the Mellieha area. Preliminary investigations found that fireworks had exploded next to a 40-year-old man from Qrendi. The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital with grievous injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.
