ADPD says PM and Cabinet did not submit declarations of assets, calls for investigation

Friday, 6 December 2024, 11:54 Last update: about 2 months ago

ADPD - The Green Party, has asked the Standards Commissioner to launch an investigation into the Prime Minister and his members of Cabinet for failing to file their declarations of assets in Parliament.

The call for investigation comes following an article published by The Shift News which read that Abela is yet to table the annual declarations of assets of members of his cabinet. It reports that all ministers and parliamentary secretaries must declare all their assets and those of their spouses/partners by March of each year, and that the PM publishes these through Parliament, however this year, it said, he has not done so.

ADPD drew attention to this issue in a letter to the Standards Commissioner, and said "it is a known fact that the Prime Minister and Members of Cabinet have, until today, not presented in Parliament their declarations of assets, and this as per what is established within the applicable Code of Ethics." It proceeded to ask the Commissioner to investigate.
