Prime Minister Robert Abela knows very well what an attack on the judiciary entails, the Nationalist Party said following the head of government's Facebook statement.
It is an attack on the justice system when someone tries to prevent Magistrates and Judges from fulfilling their duties, the PN said in a statement Thursday.
It is an attack on justice when someone tries to stop citizens from requesting an inquiry. It undermines institutions when someone attempts to discredit the results of a magisterial inquiry, the party said.
The only person who has spent months attacking the judiciary is Robert Abela.
Robert Abela is a hypocrite. He tries to shift his blame onto others, the PN said.
The Nationalist Party defends the extremist faction within it - PL
The Opposition's latest press statement confirms that Bernard Grech and his party are defending the extremist faction within the PN, the Labour Party said in reply.
They are now defending those who are being investigated for illegal acts intended to undermine justice, as stated by the law courts.
This comes from the very same people who speak about the rule of law, but when they disagree with the institutions on matters that concern them personally, they lash out at them and persecute them.
The changes that the opposition does not even want to listen to shall deprive no legitimate right from any individual but shall provide safeguards for the best administration of justice and the safeguard of honest individuals, the PL said.
The problem with the Nationalist Party is that it has been hijacked by an extremist faction and because it is deprived of ideas and policies is focused totally on how to destroy and tarnish people with whom it disagrees with politically.
This behaviour is not acceptable in a democratic society, the PL said.
