Over 12,000 fans filled the iconic Granaries in Floriana on Saturday night for the highly anticipated BBC Concert Orchestra presents Ultimate 80’s, a spectacular celebration of one of music’s most beloved decades, the Malta Tourism Authority said on Sunday.
Now in its sixth year, the show has become a firm favourite on Malta’s events calendar. This year’s edition featured 70 musicians and 4 exceptional vocalists performing back-to-back 80’s classics. The audience sang and danced along to hits like I’m Still Standing, Summer of ‘69, Purple Rain, and many more, turning the Fosos into one big 80’s party.
For those who missed the live event or wish to relive the magic, the entire concert will be available on BBC Sounds towards the end of July, with the official BBC Radio 2 broadcast scheduled for Sunday 10th August at 8:00 PM UK time.
“With coverage on two of the UK’s largest broadcast platforms, this special concert not only celebrates a golden era of music but also proudly places Malta in the international spotlight, reaching millions of listeners and showcasing the island as a world-class destination for live events,” the MTA said.
The Malta Tourism Authority thanked the BBC Concert Orchestra, 356 Entertainment, “the incredible vocalists and musicians, and everyone who made this spectacular night another success.”
