Three people were arraigned in court yesterday in connection with two large drugs finds that were made on Thursday evening.
One kilogramme of cocaine was found in a car in Pembroke, while another 1.5 kilogrammes heroin was seized at Malta International Airport.
The three persons were not granted bail.
In the first case, Police stopped two men in a car near the Luxol grounds after weeks of intensive investigations following drug trafficking suspicions. A search in the car yielded one kilogramme of cocaine packed in 96 capsules.
The two men, a 31-year-old from Marsaxlokk and a 28-year-old Tunisian, resident of Naxxar, were immediately detained.
In the second case, Customs officials at the airport held a Libyan man who arrived on a flight from Tunis, carrying 1.5kg of heroin. The heroin was hidden in his luggage, mixed with coffee, in a bid to distract Police dogs from sniffing out the drug.
