Malta Independent Thursday, 6 March 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

A Bulgarian woman was jailed for two years suspended for four years after she pleaded guilty to two thefts at Tower Supermarket, Sliema.

Mariana Milhova, 25, pleaded guilty to stealing a briefcase at the supermarket on Friday evening. The briefcase and its contents were valued at e265.

She also pleaded guilty to stealing a wallet on Monday afternoon at the same supermarket.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, heard how Milhova gave the wallet intact to its owner.

However, she could not fully reimburse the briefcase’s owner who was given e70 in cash in court.

In handing down his judgment, Magistrate Mizzi advised the woman who was to fly back home in the evening “to forget about this island”.

Police Inspector Anna Marie Micallef prosecuted while Dr Renzo Porsella Flores was legal aid to the accused.
