Floriana registered a deserved win when in a morning match played at the Centenary Stadium they defeated Balzan to the tune of three goals to nil.

This was the Greens fourth win from as many matches and are they thus kept their hundred per cent record and are joint leaders with Hamrun Spartans.

After a goaless first half, Floriana left their best for the second forty five minutes with Kemar Reid having a blinder.

On nine minutes the first sight of goal when Kemar Reid broke away, passed on the left flank towards Jose Arias Ulises but his shot ended inches wide off the post defended by Danilo Golovic.

Four minutes later the Greens were unlucky when the woodwork prevented them from taking the lead. It was once again Reid in the thick of action but his shot hit the crossbar.

Balzan responded on 28 minutes with Paul Fenech finding Leonardo Da Silva De Souza only for his shot to end well over the bar.

Till the end of the first half neither team was able to find a breakthrough.

But just past the hour Floriana took a deserved lead.  A cross from the left side by Matias Garcia found Kemar Reid whose header left Golovic stranded and put the Greens in front.

That was what Floriana needed and on 77 minutes they doubled their lead. Mathues Nogureira was brought down in the area and from the resultant penalty Jose Arias Ulises made no mistake.

Things turned sour for Balzan when six minutes from the end they conceded a third goal.  This time it was Mattia Veselji’s turn to place the ball into the net to the delight of the Greens supporters.

To make things worse  Balzan were reduced to ten man when in the 87th minutes Andres Prates was sent off following a foul on Dunstan Vella who had a clear goal scoring opportunity. From the resultant free kick there was a handling infringement and Floriana were awarded the second penalty of the day. But this time Golovic saved on Reid.
