The drugs were seized by members of the Drug Squad in several raids between Friday and Saturday.

The Easter weekend – with the many parties organised in both Malta and Gozo – is notoriously connected with drug-taking among youngsters.

The police take extra precautions in the circumstances, and the roadblocks set up in various locations led to the arrests.

Eleven of the arrests were made on Saturday night – the police did not specify the location – and it is believed the ecstasy pills seized were to be distributed at a party organised on the night.

The people who have been arrested are expected to be charged in court in the new few days.
