During March, the authority processed 114 notifications of development which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

In the same month, 96 stop and enforcement notices were issued – 57 in Malta and 39 in Gozo.

A total of 108 enforcement cases were sanctioned with the issuing of a permit. Another 22 cases were resolved because the owners decided to remove illegal development following enforcement action.

During the same month, nine cases were withdrawn by Mepa while another 26 cases were closed following payment due for direct action taken in previous years.

The 165 cases that been complied with in one month is a record for the authority. This positive result can be attributed to various measures taken within the authority to strengthen and streamline their operations.
