Malta before History
In collaboration with the Tourism and Culture Ministry and Heritage Malta, Miranda Publishers are launching the book Malta before History under the distinguished patronage of the President of Malta.
To mark the occasion, a seminar about the prehistory of Malta will be held in the morning with contributions from each of the 10 authors of the book: Mr Anthony Pace, Dr David Trump, Prof. Anthony Bonanno, Mrs Ann Monsarrat, Prof. Frank Ventura, Mr Reuben Grima, Prof. Alex Torpiano, Dr Daniel Clark, Dr David Trump, Dr Michael Hughes-Clarke, Prof. Richard England. The seminar, that is open to the public, will also feature an exhibition and multimedia presentations and will also be addressed by Professor Lord Renfrew

Presentation of EU Flag by President of the EU Parliament
A Maltese delegation, made up of the Permanent Secretary, Education, Youth and Employment Ministry Charles Mizzi and Ms Yvette Buttigieg and Mr Robert Zammit, both of whom were chosen by the National Youth Council, leave Malta for Strasbourg via Frankfurt.
The next day, Tuesday, 20 April, they will meet EU Parliament President Pat Cox with whom they will exchange the Malta Flag and the EU Flag.
The group will return to Malta on Wednesday, 21 April, at 11.50am.

Malta in the European Union – a step forward in history
6.30pm: Education, Youth and Employment Minister Louis Galea presides over an activity organised by the National Library.
This activity consists of the launching of the facsimile of the work Giuoco d’Arme dei Sovrani e degli Stati d’Europa by Bernardo Giustiniani (translated from the French original by Claude-Oronce Fine’ de Brainville) printed in Naples in 1725, the inauguration of the exhibition Malta in the European Union – a step forward in history and a short musico-literary programme featuring music and poetry with a Maltese/European theme.

Wednesday, 21 April
Presentation of EU Flag by the EU Parliament President
The two youth representatives Ms Yvette Buttigieg and Mr Robert Zammit accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Education, Youth and Employment Ministry Charles Mizzi arrive at Luqa Airport and are greeted by the Education, Youth and Employment Minister Louis Galea.
Accompanied by a group of young cyclists from the Malta Cyclists Federation, the party leaves Luqa Airport for Valletta.
1pm: The party arrive at City Gate, Valletta where they are welcomed by the Mayor of Valletta, Dr Paul Borg Olivier.
The party will proceed to the Presidential Palace accompanied by youth representatives, a group of sprinters and young cyclists. The EU flag is carried open by four representatives flanked by four Malta flags.
1.10pm: The President and other members of the EU Accession Celebrations Organising Committee, together with the chairman and members of the National Youth Council, welcome the party at the front door of the Presidential Palace.
1.15pm: The party, accompanied by the president and members of the EU Accession Celebrations Organising Committee, together with the chairman and members of the National Youth Council and representatives of the youth organisations, meet the President of Malta.
The two youth representatives will present the official EU flag to be used in the celebrations to Dr Eddie Fenech Adami who will in turn present the EU Flag and the Flag of Malta to the President of the EU Accession Celebrations Organising Committee.
Both flags are to be posted at the Presidential Palace until 30 April.

7pm: A musico-literary evening organised in conjunction with l-Ghaqda tal-Malti (Universita’) intended to highlight the evolution of the Maltese language which is one of the official languages of the New Europe.
The programme will feature literary appreciations of Mikiel Anton Vassalli’s works combined with music and readings.
The evening will come to an end with an intervention by the Urban Development and Roads Minister Jesmong Mugliett, who will also open an exhibition on Vassalli’s works as well as launch the book Dawl gdid fuq Vassalli.
