Mr Farrugia said that according to information given in parliament, there was an increase in expenses related to renting of cars for the ministry during the first two months this year when compared to the same months last year.
He said while Lm9,458 was spent in 2003, Lm13,139 was spent in January and February this year.
In his letter, Mr Farrugia called on the Speaker to ask the Auditor General to investigate the increase.
