Safety At work

Malta Independent Friday, 23 April 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

In a Department of Information statement, the ministry said that despite the setting up of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA), accidents such as the collapse of a roof in Qormi were resulting in more injuries to workers.

The ministry reminded all companies working in the construction industry, and their employees, to take every precaution to ensure their safety at work. It appealed to operators to take part in special courses organised by the Building Industry Consultative Council (BICC) and OHSA.

BICC also offered services from specialists with the aim of guiding workers and helping them to be more aware of the safety precautions they need to take.
