Alternattiva Demokratika’s Reservations on PBS agreement

Malta Independent Wednesday, 28 April 2004, 00:00 Last update: about 23 years ago

One of the conditions of the agreement is that the PBS management cannot belong to a trade union. AD’s general secretary Stephen Cachia said: “This is simply unacceptable and a clear breach of EU workers’ directives.

“AD hopes that with this new agreement PBS, through its newsroom, will be able to fulfil its constitutional tasks, ie to provide pluralism and to report a wide spectrum of views.

“In the next months, AD will be vigilant regarding the media situation in Malta which is dominated by party-owned television stations. In the light of the recent condemnation by the EU parliament of the media situation in Italy, AD will seek to highlight the media situation in Malta in European institutions”, Mr Cachia concluded.
