In a short speech, Mr Dalli said this was the first official visit following Malta’s European Union accession.
He added that Iran faced two major world dramas: that of Iraq and the ongoing problem in the Middle East.
He said these required a commitment to seek a resolution for the benefit of all concerned.
Mr Ahani congratulated Malta on the results of many years of constant effort, and expressed his hope that the two countries could further strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy and diplomacy.
Iran gives particular attention to its relationship with the European Union, as well as to bilateral relations with the member states, including Malta. The potential for development between the two countries had already been recognised, he stated.
