The vehicle was requested by a 25-year-old disabled person who who takes care of several people suffering from sight disability.
This car will be driven mainly by members of Magic Moments, of which the disabled person is a member, at the ASM Racetracks in Ta’ Qali, in a safe and accident-free environment under the guidance of trained personnel in the sport.
This car was launched and handed to the director of Magic Moments, on behalf of a number of blind people on the island. The presentation of the car took place at Mcast Paola in the Automobile Engineering main yard. Education, Youth and Employment Minister Louis Galea was present for the presentation, and congratulated the Mcast students on their work.
The car conversion was carried out by students in the Automobile and Panel Beating classes in the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. This conversion included the removal of all luxury equipment, glass and screens. Safety equipment such as a safety roll cage and stronger seat belts were included in the conversion. The conversion was carried out according to the ASM Autocross rules.
The first test drive at the ASM Racetracks is expected to take place soon.
Meanwhile, a social event will be held to celebrate the end of their first scholastic year at Mcast.
